The English Department at Hmong Academy strives to bring innovation into the classroom in order to meet and exceed the needs of our students. Each student at our school comes with their own learning styles and capabilities. Our English teachers work diligently with each student to help them achieve their goals of English language.

Working hand-in-hand with the departments within our school, specific English Language Standards are taught and reemphasized through the use of monthly and weekly language objectives. Students are taught these concepts to mastery and are assessed often to ensure that the concepts are understood and are reflected within each of their classrooms.

Amy Lee Buck

Ms. Buck is a graduate of Bethel University and Luther Seminary. She joins Hmong Academy with 12 years of teaching experience and holds a Minnesota 7 - 12 English/Language Arts license. In addition to her teaching, she is an experienced fundraiser and enjoys working with her communities.

Ms. Buck will be teaching 10th grade English courses for the academic year 2008-09.

Nicole Naumann

Nicole Naumann is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  She holds a K-8 Minnesota teaching license with a middle school emphasis in Communication Arts and Literature.  Ms. Naumann also spent time abroad, studying in South Africa and teaching in China.

Ms. Naumann is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade English.

Jack Lee

After earning his Bachelor's of Arts in English from Western Oregon University, Mr. Jack Lee returned to Minnesota to obtain his teaching licensure in 5-12 English from Hamline University. Mr. Lee has spent several years as an Educational Assistant, Hmong Liaison, and Hmong Language/Culture Teacher in the metro areas before joining Hmong Academy.

As a person who generally tries everything once, Mr. Lee has dabbled in sports, fishing, and is currently learning how to play the acoustic guitar.

Mr. Lee will teach 9th grade English during this academic school year.
