 The foreign language department's purpose is to educate our students in the Chinese language. Currently, Chinese 1 and 2 are offered. In the coming semester, College-in-Schools-Chinese language, will be taught.
Chinese culture and traditions are also integrated into the classroom to ensure our students a rich academic experience. For more information, please contact the department head.

Shu-Hui (Linda) Chang is one of two Chinese teachers at Hmong Academy. A graduate of Brock University, Ms. Chang graduated with honors and received her Master of Arts from University of North Dakota. Ms. Chang holds a teaching license and teaches Chinese 1 and 2. Fall 2008, Ms. Chang will teach the course “College In the Schools (CIS) – Chinese Language”.
In addition to her work at Hmong Academy, Ms. Chang is relentless in the advancement of Chinese language acquisition. She served on the committee for the Mandarin Chinese Initiative Project at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) in 2007. Collaborating with Dr. Ursula Lentz, professor at the University of Minnesota, Ms. Chang created an Integrated Performance Assessment for Advanced Chinese language learning; this Asian language assessment unit is posted on the website of the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
