The students will develop a basic understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design. A number of exciting exercises using many different types of artistic media will guild the students through these concepts. The class will culminate with the development of a portfolio that will display the students understanding of the Design process.

The students will also experience an overview of the historical timeline of human artistic creation. Some of the artwork that the students create will be influenced by certain periods in art history.

The students will continue their journey towards an understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design. A number of more focused exercises using many different types of artistic media will guild the students through these concepts. The class will culminate with the development of a portfolio that will display the students understanding of the Design process. The students will design a “gallery type” display for the school of both sixth and seventh grade work based on artistic criteria.

The students will also experience a more focused exploration of the periods in art history. Some of the artwork that the students create will be influenced by certain periods in art history.

In this class students will learn about the artistic process including; artistic intent and an understanding of the cultural, historical or social contexts that influence the creation of art. The focus of the class will be the Elements and Principles of Design. A variety of media will be used while emphasizing the Techniques and processes an artist incorporates in the studio.

This class is designed to be a more advanced art course. The students will develop their understanding of the Elements and Principals of design. A variety of media will be used to create a series of artworks that display an understanding color theory with an emphasis on style and intent. Using the elements and principals of design the students will focus on artistic composition. The students will learn to critique other artists work as well as their own where the artistic decision making process and artistic intent will be emphasized.

This class is designed to be a more advanced art course. This class will introduce the design process with a focus more on graphics. Students will develop an understanding of the graphic design industry from concept to completion. The students will propose projects, “marketable concepts” and develop a completed proposal. The students will explore Illustration techniques to be used as a tool and incorporated into proposals.
