Designed to teach basic skills using the computer, this course encompasses the keyboard, number pad and special function keys.
Keyboarding techniques will be reinforced including posture, keystroking, accuracy and speed. Basic instruction of Microsoft Word is taught through document formatting.

Throughout the one semester course, students will learn the basics of Microsoft Word and Excel. Students will learn and demonstrate knowledge of computer hardware, appropriate and safe use of Internet resources, and effective use of Microsoft software. To effectively demonstrate their understanding of course materials, students will produce a final project integrating Hmong cultural facts, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel concepts.

As a continuation course to Introduction to Microsoft Office, students will learn Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft PowerPoint in addition to advanced features of Microsoft Word and Excel. Using Hmong culture, facts and technology as a backdrop for content, students will create a final project integrating all four components of Microsoft Office and present their findings not only to the class but also to the academic community.
